The belt grinding system mainly consists of an elastomer contact wheel which is a compliant tool and can be deformed to adapt to different shapes of free-surfaces as illustrated in Fig. 1(a). The abrasive belt is fastened around the contact wheel and functions as cutting edges to remove the material of the workpiece surface.
