That is actually a TM-UM horizontal mill with a factory vertical head I believe. This is what a Hardinge TM-UM horizontal mill looks like in it's real, normal life. I paid $700 for it a couple of years ago and felt it was a fair price. Check with the seller as to the whereabouts of the overarm, arbor support and arbor.

The Hardinge mills are every bit as good as the Hardinge lathes, so initial quality would be great, but later in its life you could run into anything. As for weight, you could probably expect somewhere around 800 or 900 pounds for the whole machine. I cannot say what size collets the spindle takes as I do not know.

Hardinge had Bridgeport make a modified version of the C head specially for the TM or UM. The H head used 2VB collets, which are rare and expensive. And, like the C head, there is no quill. The one sort of lightweight vertical head with R8 spindle and quill that might work is from the Rockwell vertical mill.
