This kit fits HiTorque (and other SX2) mini mills. LittieMachineShop HiTorque mini mills now have bearings rated for high speed. If you have a HiTorque 4190 or a HiTorque 3990 with a serial number greater than 60552 you already have the high speed bearings. Other SX2 mini mills, including all Micro-Mark 84630 mills, require new bearings.

The HiTorque Mini Mill has 62.5 graduations on the dial. Each full turn of the hand wheel moves the table 0.0625" (1/16"). X-Axis Lock Lever The X-axis lock lever is on the front of the saddle behind the Y-axis hand wheel. Use this lever to lock the X-axis so it does not move inadvertently.

My first mill was a Little Machine Shop Hi-Torque 3900 mini mill, purchased second hand. The LMS ones seem to be better equipped than the same manufacturer sold elsewhere under different names. For example the LMS one has a larger table and is fitted with a belt drive instead of the plastic gear drive that I have heard is a failure point.

I gambles on this inexpensive multiple size fly-cutter set for use in my LMS 3900 Hi Torque mini mill. The tool steel cutter blanks installed are not sharpened, understandably. Out of curiosity, I used the small cutter, as out of the box, not sharpened on a piece of aluminum with surprising finish and cutting ability.

57 Posts. #9 · Dec 11, 2014. Only show this user. I have the LMS mini mill (fixed column) model 3960. It's ben replaced by the 3990. I'm very happy with it. The motor has plenty of torque for my needs and no gears to break. The fixed column is sturdier that the tilt column.
