Why does the reverse gear on manual transmissions grind in certain situations, even if the clutch is fully depressed? A few days ago when trying to shift from second to fourth (a maneuver I always found annoying) I accidentally slipped the gear shift into reverse, and I could hear the gears grinding even though I hadn't let off the clutch.

Does anyone have a video or something of someone grinding the gears on a manual mill or lathe till the gears teeth are gone, or until the motor blows. Im guessing there has to be a video or like a sound file somewhere, but I cant find it. any help would be appreciated

Do manual clutches need oil and filter changes occasionally like automatics? Would you ever use something like Lucas Transmission Fix or a similar type product on a manual? EDIT 12/1/2016. I haven't dealt with this issue yet, but I was talking to someone about changing the gear oil since I'm going to replace the cv boots.
